The link between Osteoarthritis and Garbage

Muscloskeletal conditions like lower back pain and osteoarthritis are now second only to cancer as a leading cause of disease burden in Australia.
The first question has to be why?
  • Too much weight being carried around wears out the joints?
  • The Australian diet is very inflammatory ?
  • Poor digestive function?
  • Is it to do with how we stand and walk or because we sit for too long?
  • Injury from sport or trauma?
  • Too much acidity in our bodies?
Probably a combination of all the above factors. In the Naturopathy world  osteoarthritis is thought to be an accumulation of wastes in the joints.  If your routes of elimination (bowels, kidneys, nose, lungs, skin) cannot keep up, the body has to store the wastes some where, so in some people that is the joints. It may seem funny that you have a dodgy knee or a sore back and your Naturopath is asking about your stool motions but this is why.
So the conclusion is if you feel stiff in the joints on of the best things you can do is to 'Take out the garbage' and do a detoxification program usually once or twice a year.  After all you clean the inside of your house regularly.
Take out the garbage now
