10 Hints to Keep your Health at Christmas

  1. Earn your rewards.  If you have a Christmas Party to go to in the evening double your exercise that day.  Find some friends to do some extra workouts with.  Remember your body reflects a balance between intake and what your burn off.
  2. Drink heaps of water and an extra glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you consume. If you are intending to drink alcohol. Take some Flordis Legalon before you go out to protect your liver.
  3. Have a Nuzest Lean Clean Protein drink for breakfast blended with water and fruit for a high energy day. For extra nutrients add Nuzest Good Green Food.
  4. The next morning if you have a headache drink more water, take it quietly for a day.  Vitamin B and Magnesium will help you recover. Try Blooms Bounce Energy Boost.
  5. Don't stress about making it to every function.  Follow the one event per day rule.  This will make you less frazzled and then you can have more fun.
  6. If you get a stomach ache, it is your bodies way of telling you to slow down and watch what you
    are eating.  Add some Inner Health probiotics & Ibergast to settle your stomach.
  7. Get a good night's sleep.  If you are out partying late one night have an early night the next so that you don't get over tired and make poor decisions.
  8. Choose your drinks carefully.  Some alcoholic beverages are better than others so choose the purest, with less sugar, colours & preservatives. The best drinks of the season include good quality champagne and sparkling wine, rose made with sangiovese or grenach grapes, good quality red and white wine & vodka and gin mixed with soda.
  9. Good Choices.  There may be many temptations but choose wisely. Go ahead indulge in what you might not ordinarily eat but instead of three potatoes have one, avoid the turkey skin, have a tablespoon of gravy rather than a pool of it, and go easy on cream and cheese.
  10. Have fun.  I suggest that you go forth and have as much fun as you can with out getting injured, drinking too much and eating excessively.

Link Between Gut Inflamation and Depression

The level of inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract has a bidirectional impact on behavior. Researchers have found that depression can influence the vulnerability of the gut to inflammation; and in turn, this inflammation may influence depression and anxiety.1

I can second this, from my clinic results, how often does a client finish the Clean Within Program and find that their moods have improved to a huge degree.

Monkey Mind at night? Try putting yourself into a Trance

Do you have a monkey mind where there is a lot of internal chatter?

You can help this by putting yourself into a trance. Here are 8 steps to try tonight to get a good night's sleep.

  1. You can use your usual script, but the key....slow it right down.....right down.
  2. Imagine you are talking to someone that speaks a different language to the one that you are using. They can't understand what you are saying. So deliver your words in such a way that your tone, pace and inflections are slow, deliberate and clear.
  3. Throw in some pause statements such as 'that's right', 'I see', 'I understand', this gives you time to breathe, reflect and structure your response
  4. Throw in some ambitious words - this makes you slow down as you think of alternative words or ways of phrasing something
  5. Imagine yourself walking down a huge stair case one step at a time while delivering these words
  6. Create a picture in your head of what you want and only what you want
  7. If your head has any other sounds in it, let them help you to relax deeper.
  8. Go with the flow, but control the speed of the flow....breathe :-
Not asleep yet....maybe it's time to sit down Rosemary Manners.  She can explore nutrition, lifestyle and mindset to see what's contributing to your monkey brain.

Let's Help Sydney Youth this Christmas

Being a mother of two teenager boys.  I am very grateful for the life that they have.  So grateful that this Christmas I plan to run a program in conjunction with Barnardos Australia to give  Christmas presents to less fortunate youth in Sydney.

This is a comment about Barnardos;
“They deal with things that most people who go to work every day don’t have to, particularly seeing some real pain for young people in our community. However, the fantastic part about their work is the successes, and the turning around of young people’s lives. In many cases I would say they are saving young people’s lives."

Barnardos have opened a new Canterbury Office;
The four programs running out of the Sydney Youth Services Canterbury office are:
  • Reconnect – the Reconnect program is an early intervention program for youth (12-18years old) and their families who live in the Marrickville and Canterbury local government areas who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The program is aimed at ‘reconnecting’ teenagers to their families where possible. It is funded by FaHCSIA.
  • Streetwork - the Streetwork program is a youth support and drug and alcohol prevention program for young people in the Canterbury / Marrickville local government areas. It has an outreach focus where contact is primarily achieved through street work in public places such as railway stations, shopping centres and parks. It is funded by the NSW Department of Health.
  • EIPP – the Early Intervention and Placement Prevention Program (EIPP) is an information and referral program for ‘at risk’ young people (aged 12-18years) and their families who live in the Canterbury and Marrickville Local Government Areas. It is funded by the NSW Department of Community Services.
  • Young People Connected Program - this program is funded by the Vodafone Foundation. It aims to increase connectedness between at risk young people and support services, family and their community. This is achieved by allocating new handsets and a freecall number to clients in Barnardos programs.
For 15 years at Cranes Pharmacy we have supported Barnardos Australia by selling Christmas Cards.  I understand that many of you do not send paper Christmas Cards any more so this gives us all a chance to continue our Traditional Support.

  • Buy a Barnardos Youth Gift Certificates.  $10.00 or $20.00 each and we'll ensure that it gets to teenagers in Sydney that do not quite live like us.
